At Fletcher Upholstery Studio, you can either cover your furniture or reupholster the entire frame. Covering requires covering your furniture over the existing foundation. This is typically the case when the frame is in great shape, the springs/webbing are tight, and sometimes, the padding is in good shape. The latter is not typical, but depending on the age of your furniture and how much it has been used, we can sometimes incorporate the old padding and add new.

Reupholstering usually requires tearing the entire piece down to the frame and starting from scratch.

Sometimes you’ll have a hybrid where the padding is in great shape, but a spring has popped, or the padding is worn down, but the foundation is in great shape.

Honestly, it’s hard to tell what is required until we open up the piece and assess it, much akin to, “hey, my car is making a strange noise, and I’m not quite sure what it is?” This is why we give estimates and not a final number until it has been fully assessed.

Transparency is key. If we find something we were not expecting, we will let you know before any additional work begins. We may have our own opinions about how to proceed, but collaboration is key. Now, does this mean we are just going to slap a Band-Aid on the problem? No! We will work with you and your budget to meet your expectations and our commitment to excellence. After all, it’s your furniture, but better!
