Fletcher Upholstery Studio specializes in residential upholstery, with a particular focus on the smaller, meaningful projects, such as your heirloom pieces and furnishings that carry personal value. We are equally equipped to take on larger projects as needed, always tailoring our approach to meet your specific requirements. Every piece is carefully evaluated and treated with the same level of attention and respect we would give our own.
Originally founded in 2010 by Rachel Fletcher in Knoxville, Tennessee, as Knox Upholstery, the business has since relocated to the Bay Area. With this transition came a new name, Fletcher Upholstery Studio, reflecting both its roots and its continued commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship and personalized service.
Rachel is well-versed in running a small boutique upholstery workroom as well as running large commercial projects. You can rest assured that we can work with you.
Principal Creative
Rachel FletcherRachel Fletcher did not enter the upholstery trade through a traditional path; she is self-taught and built her expertise through dedicated study and practice. Drawing on instructional resources, industry literature, and a strong network of skilled professionals, she developed and refined her craft over time. After earning a B.A. in Communications and spending several years working in marketing and advertising, Rachel made the deliberate decision to pursue upholstery as her lifelong profession. As she explains, “I have a passion for furniture, the environment, and for keeping as much furniture out of the landfill as possible.”
Since entering the field, Rachel has played a significant role in advancing the profession. She is the founder and former President of the National Upholstery Association and currently serves as the Administrator of the Professional Upholsterer’s Network, contributing to education, collaboration, and standards within the industry.
